Final Project - Our Plan of Attack

For our group’s final project we are creating a Mormon Messages video. After much thought, planning, and discussion we have decided to create a video in which we interview little kids (ages 3-8) about their families.

We want to do interviews similar to the style of Out of the Mouth of Babes, however we want to ask them questions like,
  • Why do you love your family?
  • How does your family show that they love you?
  • How does your mom/dad show that they love you?

Our hope is to be able to get some cute, endearing, and/or funny responses. We would like there to be at least two different emotions felt during the video. We like to start off with something cute or funny and then lead into a little more of serious note.

To facilitate this, after the interviews with the little kids we want to play an excerpt from a talk by President Henry B. Eyring entitled, “Our Perfect Example”

This is quote we are thinking of using,

“Just as Jesus used a child in His mortal ministry as an example for the people of the pure love they must and could have to be like Him, He has offered us the family as an example of an ideal setting in which we can learn how to love as He loves.

That is because the greatest joys and the greatest sorrows we experience are in family relationships. The joys come from putting the welfare of others above our own. That is what love is.”

We hope the video with be both endearing and meaningful. I love the idea of interviewing little kids because of the sincerity, innocence, and love they represent. The medium is the message!

  1. The medium is the message--I really like that. I think it is especially true for our project. Perhaps I shall incorporate this concept into my blog posts. :)

  2. I like this idea a lot! In a way this is sort of like the church's new push to get members involved in sharing their testimonies online and with mormon.org. Some are more polished than others, some are a little off topic but for good or bad it represents who we are and people can really get an understanding of our beliefs through meeting actual members vs reading others opinions about mormons
