Mormon Messages – Connecting With Others

One of things I enjoyed about making our Mormon Messages Video is the chance that it has allowed us to connect with others.

First of all, we were able to meet a ton of fantastic families and kids that provided us with great material to use. By the time we were finished interviewing the kids, we had built a great friendship and connections with the families. Those families are now more interested in Mormon Messages videos and are excited to see our final product.

Second, we connected with several other film makers while making this project. My sister graduated in documentary film making and provided us with invaluable insights and suggestions how we might film and edit our video. Also, we connected with several other multi-media lab TA’s, many whom were also film makers, and received advice and help from them.

Third and lastly, we connected with and received some great feedback from the class and the audience at the Digital Revolution event and practices. For example, many people texted in saying that a few of the subtitles we used were distracting and that we would better off not using them. That was a great suggestion! Upon reflection, that could really improve our video before we do our final submission to lds.org. Connecting with the audience/class and receiving that kind of constructive feedback will really improve the quality of our video!
